Lookout Junction. Is the end of the line for the McCloud running over trackage rights between Hambone and here.  Lookout was supposedly named for a Butte in the area (Egg Lake Butte) that the local Indians would keep a spy out for neighboring tribes who would raid their tribe for brides. This according to The California Gazetteer. The Loop was used here, as in many places because turning facilities were unavailable for steam engines.
