Bartle over the years has been an important point along the line. With it's passing siding and water tower it was a major stop on the line when traffic was at it's peak. Bartle is also where the railroad terminated for many years with logging spurs taking off in all directions from there. Not far east from The Bartle siding is where the line splits between the Burney Line and the Hambone Line. It's name derives from the Bartle Brothers Ranch that had a guest house and bar in the area.
